On Thursday Lina's folks brought us our puppy from their side of the world, a Border Collie of excellent lineage. Since she was queen of her litter, we decided to name her Sheba. She doesn't look much like a Sheba at the moment, but I'm sure she will when she's older.

Sleep hasn't been high on the cards of late. It's almost 10 years since I last raised a puppy and forgot just how much attention they need, but it's a wonderful job (we'll see if I have the same opinion after a week at work with no sleep) and I'm really glad we got her.

Grr, Sunday morning, and our copies of Potter 6 still haven't left Cape Town. Much ranting en route to Kalahari tomorrow, that's for sure.

But I'm not letting it get me down. I've opted for the next best thing…a preview of the new Burton/Depp colaboration, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I was weened on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and still love it to this day. I'm not expecting this new one to be better or worse, just substantially different. Maybe I'll post a review tomorrow.

What to do, what to do? I'm sitting here an a Saturday morning twitching, because my copy of Half-Blood Prince hasn't been shipped yet.

When Kalahari.net guaranteed delivery on Saturday, I assumed they'd send the goods out friday night for early arrival, but my order status still says 'On Order'.

Ugh.

A bunch of us went to be part of the live studio audience for the taping of the first episode of SABC3's new game show, Walk the Plank yesterday, to support our friends, who were brave enough to be contestants.

Thankfully I signed a non-disclosure agreement, which prohibits me from detailing the unending (12 hours) comedy of errors we had to endure. Suffuce it to say, I would have thought that one of SA's top media companies would be excellent at communication skills.

But besides all that, and only getting home at 3AM this morning (!!), our girls put in a sterling effort, and we're immensely proud of them.

Hats off to Isabel, Pranusha and Ellie! Well done!

I think it'll be very entertaining once it's all put together to dramatic music, so don't miss it on August 3, SABC3, 19:30, where you can catch them and a very energetic support crowd in action.
