South African Google search plugin for Firefox
by Chris on Sep.29, 2005, under Tech
Just one of the many cool things I love about FireFox is the built-in search bar (especially when I found out there was an IMDb plugin!)
And one of the many things I love about Google is the ability to search specifically South African sites. So I merged the two.
If you want to add an SA-specific search option to your browser, download this zip file and extract it to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins and voila!
Nightmare on Elrond Street
by Chris on Sep.28, 2005, under Entertainment
This is something I threw together a couple of years back, just because I felt it needed to be done. It echoes my (and I'm sure everyone else's) first thoughts at seeing Elrond for the first time in Fellowship of the Ring. Check it out here [1MB]
Go go go Joseph!

My best man to be, Justin, visited from durban last week, and since he’d played the infamous role of ‘Pharaoh’ in our school production (all those many, many years ago) we thought it would be fun to go and see a performance of Joseph at Montecasino’s theatre last weekend. Man, what a good idea that turned out to be!
It’s really well produced, funny as heck, and there are some amazing voices there – truly entertaining. Tickets are pretty reasonable, and it’s on till the end of October, so don’t miss it! Tickets at Computicket.
DIY for divers

I doubt any of my regular readers have any interest in this whatsoever, but I thought I should post it anyway…
I've finally completed my “how-to” (move over, geeky case-modders!) on installing my funky scuba tank holders for my Freelander.
Beware, large images! (2.7 MB)

Sitting killing time in airports sux…but not with a WiFi enabled laptop!
Downloads at 150kbps just make my day.
While I'm at it, I just used the free bandwidth to upload some more French photos to the Allemont gallery.
On the down side, I just saw my sister off through passport control for her UK 'working holiday'. All the best, Cath!

Yay! Google has finally listed me. And I'm page ranked #1! (You'd be amazed how many other hokemons there are out there).

Look who I found! Another Hokemon
…although I think I prefer my logo ![]()
On the topic of Hokemons, Google still hasn't indexed my page, but Yahoo has. Yay for Yahoo!

Hmm, blogs are a pain to maintain, but since at least one person seems to take an interest in what goes on around here (probably more work avoidance than interest, but let's not be pedantic), I am forced to make an entry.
Yesterday was our divisional Fun day – an 'annual' day when we get a half day off to go and have a good time together. Last time it was Gold Reef City (you practically have the place to yourself during the week!) and yesterday we went and had fine cuisine at Carvers, followed by a one hour endurance kart race at Randburg Raceway, where I was fortunate enough to be placed in a team of fine drivers, namely John-Roy, Bernard, Bart and Nirdesh, which secured us a place on the top step of the podium. Kudos, guys!
On a side note, I challenge anyone out there to beat my laptime of 19.87s.
